San Diego: Day Seven
Wednesday we went to the San Diego Zoo!!! It was so cool, I loved it. It was really pretty, located in Balboa Park which has a bunch of museums too. First we took the 35 minute bus tour which allowed us to see 60 percent of the park, then we walked around on foot. My favourites were the koala bears which were adorable, and the gorilla. It was so funny to watch the gorilla, there was a whole crowd of people watching him and all he was doing was sitting there staring back at everyone. He looked really kind of bored and kept tapping his fingers on his tummy and every once in a while he would uncross his legs and cross them the other way. It was interesting to see the characteristics that he shares with humans. After a while it became hard to tell who was watching who. He was watching us just as much as we were watching him. Some other things that were cool were the giraffes and the lions. Basically the whole thing was awesome. After that we took the trolley and the bus to Coronado Island which was gorgeous. I bought some Tom's shoes and we went into a candy store that sold AMAZING chocolate peanut butter stuff. It was actually sooo good. We walked along the boardwalk near the water then decided to head home since it was starting to rain. We took the bus to the trolley station then got on the trolley. It was the weirdest experience ever. I didn't notice at first but there was this guy sitting there bleeding all over the floor. His whole mouth was covered in blood, it was gross. Everyone sitting near him looked pretty freaked out but nobody said anything. A couple of stops later two security guards got on and started asking him questions "why are you bleeding all over the floor? what's going on man?" and he replied saying "I just went to the dentist!" Oh yeah. Because that's what dentist's do to you these days. The guards kicked everyone in that car off and told us to go on a different car. It was freaky! But eventually we got back to Old Town. By that time it was pouring rain and we had to walk the 6 or 7 blocks back to the hotel in the rainstorm. We were drenched, but we made it home safe and sound!
