a re-occuring theme in life.

In "Paradise Lost" by John Milton, we see reflected in Satan the irritating and pretentious power of our teacher.

That is the thesis I would like to have written for my essay on Paradise Lost. I need to go on a bit of a rant again. What else is new. Teachers can be so damn pretentious. Seriously, tone it down. We know you're smart. WE GET IT! Stop announcing it. You write these ridiculously long and wordy thesis statements and act all nonchalant, just shrugging it off. And then tell us "Yours won't look like this, but this is an example of what it could look like". In other words, mine is awesome, yours will suck. We know your smirk is hiding behind the pride that you wear so casually, so easily. I think it's about time to shed that skin and reveal to the world the true you that everyone seems to conveniently overlook. Everyone except me, that is. It is one thing to teach, another to look down on, and feel so superior to your students that they begin to feel stupid, useless and incapable of completing any of your assignments. Drop the pretentious attitude. There's no better time than now.
