day eighteen: disrespecting parents

So at first I thought this meant parents that are rude to their kids, but that would be disrespectful, so I guess it means kids who are rude to their parents. Well I think it's important for kids to respect their parents. I think it can be hard as kids are growing up because they don't always understand their parent's decisions. That isn't a reason or an excuse to disrespect them though. I for one know that there are times when I've been rude or whatever, but that has less to do with the parent to kid relationship and more to do with just being human. Everyone can be grumpy and have bad days. But the more important thing is that I respect my parents as people and who they are/what they stand for. So I guess I am lucky in that regard as I have parents who's heads are obviously screwed on right, whereas some kids don't. I guess this topic is hard to talk about because everyone's opinions are different and everyone's lives are different. If my parents made really poor life choices and just made a mess of things I guess I could respect them less. Respect is similar to trust as it has to be earned and isn't just given. I don't really know what else to say about it. Love is more important anyways, and if you love your parents, even if you don't always agree with everything they say or do, that should be enough.
