Just going to write a little list to remind myself of the things in life that make it so worth living.
1. My mum. If she wasn't here I swear I would not survive. She is ALWAYS there for me, to listen, talk, make me laugh, and she always knows just what to say to make me feel better. I am so so so thankful for her. When I think of girls who don't even have a mother I just can't imagine it. Every girl needs a good mother. I have the best mother in the world.
2. Music. When I saw Hannah Georgas live tonight all I could think is how music is like the antidote to life. This morning I was thinking about a kind of shitty scenario of something my life that is going to change completely in august/september, and I know it sounds kind of pathetic maybe, but I thought of Tegan and Sara and felt so much better. I felt like, I know they are just two people who I may never meet in my life and yet somehow through this incredible creative form of art they're able to connect with people all over the world. And I've connected with their music, and it keeps me sane. And on that note, I am thankful to have ears! (Admittedly they could be slightly better at their job, but all the same.)
3. Writing. I may not write as much as I'd like to or should, but writing is just awesome. I love the way words sound together, the way you can string them together and create art! And it's just such a great form of expression.
4. My heritage. My roots. I love thinking about where I'm from. I love that I'm a mix of (mostly) Finnish and Irish, and I love how I have certain quirks from both backgrounds. I am proud of my roots. And I am so so very thankful to be going to visit Finland in literally a day!
5. Nature. There is so much beauty in the natural world. Sometimes I find the day to day of pavement and cars and buildings and development to be so wearing. When I'm surrounded by nature I feel so alive and free spirited, like nothing could go wrong. Sometimes I just want to move to an island, or to a house in the middle of a forest. I just want to be alone with my cat.
6. Travel. Thank Jesus for the ability to travel from place to place. At this point in my life I have made the decision to really focus on travelling. I love the idea of solitary travel, and just meeting people as I go. When I'm working again I'm going to try to get as many hours as I can and just save up a lot of money so I can go places and experience new things. I need a break from this. I can't wait to see new places and meet new people.
