what I've learned about adventure

What I’ve learned about adventure & travel:

A place can seem boring but you can always create your own adventure. Just being in a different city or place doesn't guarantee that adventure will be had.

So far the trip has been busy but I know if I were to be travelling on my own or with the right people the moments would be different. I have learned from this trip that just being in a foreign country isn't always enough. I need to create the moments that are unique and unforgettable. For example, a great moment for me was in Stockholm, running through the city with Pauli and searching for thrift stores before catching the boat. I never thought I would find myself in Sweden with him looking for vintage stores- that moment was so unexpected and yet somehow brilliant. We ended up finding two second hand shops that were great, and one of them was somewhere that no one else from our group would have thought to look. A big part of travelling is letting go of the itinerary and following something other than your head; whether that be your heart, your feet, your nose, or just another person). Keeping an open mind is easier said than done, especially when travelling with a large group. There have been a few personality clashes so far, and it can be tricky to accommodate everyone's wants and needs. Throw in some jetlag and sleepless nights and figure out the rest from there. But the best moments have been the ones I hadn't planned, hadn't expected, or simple. Maybe it sounds cliche but the simplest moments always seem to be the most memorable. The rest is just there for decoration.
